Ferrite Content Measurement
The Fischer FMP30 Ferritescope is a portable, non-destructive instrument used to determine the ferrite content in austenitic and duplex stainless steels. Ferrite content is critical in controlling mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and weldability of stainless steel components, particularly in welds and heat-affected zones (HAZ). The FMP30 works on the principle of magnetic induction, where the ferritic phase in the material induces a measurable magnetic response. The instrument provides a direct readout in ferrite units (FN or %F), allowing rapid on-site evaluation of base metals and welds without damaging the component.
