Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) is a non-destructive inspection method that uses a visible or fluorescent dye to detect surface-breaking defects such as cracks, porosity, laps, and seams on non-porous metallic materials. The method involves applying a penetrant to the surface, allowing it to seep into defects, removing excess penetrant, and then applying a developer to draw out and reveal indications for visual inspection.
